The minar I saw her, I could tell she was special. I leaned against the ballroom wall and watched as she flitted among the Earthling brides, stopping to adjust the wispy bands sprouting from their heads and tucking stray bits in among the rest. The bag hanging from her arm contained the tools of her Earth trade, though I was not completely sure what it was. She had steel cylinders that emitted mist when she pointed it at the females’ heads. Metal pronged adornments she tucked into their intricate arrangements.

Driegons had noble ridges matching across our heads and down our spines, not this…hare. No, a hare was a fast moving, long-eared creature.

Hair.

She moved all the time, never stopping to take in the vaulted ballroom with the membranous ceiling that fated mates burst through as they succumbed to the Torrent. Unlike the other females who swayed to the haunting melody, she ignored the lumpa bugs playing music with their thick, crusty wings. She also didn’t stop to speak with the Driegon dignitaries or even the King’s guard here for formal matchmaking introductions.

When I asked about her, the king told me she was here to create decorative arrangements on the heads of the mail-order brides. A steeliest? No, a stylist. She hadn’t come to the Driegon kingdom to find a mate. Soon, she’d board the ship back to Earth and never return.

Unless I could convince her to stay.

She must’ve felt the weight of my gaze as her attention cut to me. Our eyes met and her gaze lingered just long enough to make my tri-cocks stir. Rosy color infused her face, another unusual Earthling activity. She jerked her eyes from mine and returned to her task.

If I was in front of her, I would bow and beg for an introduction. I would tell her I suspected our future was fated. Without a single touch, I knew this. And though my mind insisted it was wrong to claim someone I had yet to meet, I couldn’t help it.

I worked my way past Driegons drinking and talking, determined to speak with her. Touch her.

“Ah, Ducail Allor,” Ambassador Smythe said as I drew near. The older Earthling female swayed, making her skirt dip across her ankles. “Come, come! I’d like to introduce you to a few of the potential matches.” Frowning, she glanced around. “Huh. One of the women is missing, but I’m sure she’ll be back soon. However, on my left, we have—”

“What is her name?” I asked, gesturing to the stylist.

“Darcy?” The Ambassador fluttered, her hands fidgeting with her necklace. “I’m terribly sorry, but she’s not here to find a match. She’s part of the ancillary staff and will return to Earth in a week’s time.” She tugged on my arm, pulling me in the opposite direction as her. “Let me introduce you to Aria. She’s sweet. Quiet and a bit flighty, but many men find that attractive.”

“Introduce me to Darcy,” I said, not taking my eyes off her curvy form as she moved among the other females.
